Forum Theater Company was unofficially founded at a Starbucks in September of 2008, by a group of friends committed to creating a new type of theater in the DFW area. Their goal was to create a theater company that would focus its energy on new and socially relevant works that challenge a younger audience to investigate their own ideas on social, political, and religious topics while still providing entertainment for the masses. The name is two fold; the first is the definition of Forum, an assembly for the discussion of questions of public interest. The second influence deals with the show ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum’, it was different productions of this musical that introduced the friends to each other.

Forum Theater Company looks to provide a new type of theatrical experience that will appeal to a younger audience. FTC will appeal to a younger audience by producing new and socially relevant works. Also, by creating an artistic forum, FTC will encourage the open discussion of social and political topics.
