Greater Cleburne Carnegie Players

In 1978, the City of Cleburne moved their storehouse out of the top floor of the historic Carnegie Library building, which had been built by a grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation in 1904. The space had originally been designed to serve as a theatre, and its renewed availability opened the door for a major restoration and renovation project, and the subsequent creation of a new theatre troupe for the city. Thus, The Greater Cleburne Carnegie Players was founded. The renovation project involved many local citizens along with the city and took two years to completion.

The Greater Cleburne Carnegie Players, named in honor of Andrew Carnegie, is a non-profit thespian group that has been bringing live theatre to Cleburne and the surrounding area since 1980. Starting with the first season, which included two shows, and continuing to the present with four shows performed annually, the Carnegie Players encourage participation both on the stage and off by anyone in the greater Cleburne area.

The group's productions are staged at multiple venues, but most frequently at the Carnegie Theater at the Layland Museum, located at 201 N. Caddo Street, Cleburne, Texas 76033.
