Regal Opera Company

If you think opera is just ladies in pigtails and brass helmets, then you'll be pleasantly surprised by the productions of the Regal Opera Company. They perform American Contemporary operas, in addition to the more familiar classics by Mozart, Puccini, Strauss, and others. Their focus is on making opera more accessible to the general public, and they've been doing just that for over a decade.

The Regal Opera Company was born out of a desire by one person – Pam Cochrane – to provide a place for local professional talent to perform in the Metroplex. Over the years, the company has grown from 4 vocalists to over 50, with many going on to further the careers they launched with Regal. As a nonprofit organization and affiliate member of the Arts Council of NorthEast Tarrant County, Regal Opera has been awarded a variety of local and state grants. These, along with the support of an enthusiastic and growing patronage, have enabled the company to continue to bring quality productions to North Texas audiences.

Besides the two major operas/operaettas it performs each year, Regal also participates in at least two musical comedy shows; supplies vocalists for various community programs; and performs children's opera in local elementary schools. Regal has taken the stage at the Trinity Arts Theater, the Old Bedford School, and the Palace Theatre in Grapevine. The company now has a permanent home at the Colleyville Center. Mostly singing music in English, Regal also performs operas as originally written in other languages, using super titles and other descriptive services to interpret the story unfolding on stage. Regal enjoys making the majesty of opera available to everyone.
