Circle Theatre

Rose Pearson and Bill Newberry founded Circle Theatre in 1981 to bring contemporary plays, not yet produced in our community, to Fort Worth, Texas. Since then, Circle Theatre has evolved into a recognized Equity theatre dedicated to presenting professional, innovative productions in an intimate setting.

The Theatre derives its name from its original location on Bluebonnet Circle, near Texas Christian University. In 1987, Circle Theatre made an interim move to Fort Worth's South Side neighborhood, as a participant in the cultural urbanization project for that area. Today, Circle Theatre resides in an historic building, located in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square Entertainment District.

For more than 25 years, Circle Theatre has provided a place for emerging playwrights, directors, designers, and actors to hone their craft. As an Equity Theatre, Circle offers salaries and benefits to professional artists who wish to continue pursuing their career, while living in Texas.

Patrons and critics applaud Circle's spirit of adventure, demonstrated by the Theatre’s numerous premieres of new plays. They also appreciate Circle’s celebration of Texas' unique and colorful cultural diversity through the production of plays by and about Texans.

Circle Theatre strongly supports the role education plays in the future of all arts organizations. The Theatre collaborates with local university theatre departments to give students the experience of working in a professional theatre environment. Circle also actively mentors college internships and professional apprenticeships.

Circle Theatre is proud to represent the art of live theatre, the city of Fort Worth and the state of Texas in today’s growing regional theatre movement.
