Granbury Opera House presents The Night the Music Died, a recreation of the final concert performed by Buddy Holly, J. P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson, and Ritchie Valens in early February 1959. Later that night, all three performers would be killed in a plane crash and the course of American musical history would change forever.

Q Cinema will launch its Fall Film series with director Jacqui Morris’ poignant teen romance, Watercolors. Lonnie Weeks, age 18, has won the Silver Medal in the Junior Division for his performances at the prestigious International Ballet Competition which was held in Helsinki, Finland. Mr. Weeks is a member of the Texas Ballet Theater’s permanent company.

Theatre Arlington has announced that it recently received a $5,000 grant from Union Pacific Railroad. The funds are to be used to support the theatre’s ACT UPS (Applied Creative Thinking Using Performance Skills) program, which combines theatre games and acting exercises to help improve the self-esteem, confidence, problem-solving and life skills of inner city at-risk adolescents.
