Theatre Arlington begins 2010 by travelling back in time to solve The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. Directed by Andy Baldwin, this melodic whodunnit features a zany cast of characters who find themselves snowbound in an isolated mansion in upper New York … with a murderer among them! Financially, 2009 has proven to be a very difficult year for the Cultural and Performing Arts across the United States. In North Texas, several organizations have been forced to shut their doors, and others have found themselves with dramatically curtailed budgets. Texas Ballet Theater is no exception. TBT Artistic Director Ben Stevenson’s annual production of The Nutcracker will be performed in both Dallas and Fort Worth this year without live musical accompaniment. The following is a statement by the group’s Managing Director, Margo McCann.

University Christian Church in Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra will present the 34th Annual Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival – a majestic celebration of the Epiphany – on January 2 and 3, 2010. Although many seats are free on a first come, first served basis, reserved tickets are available for the low price of $12.00. Reserved seats go on sale November 30.

Casa Mañana and Performing Arts of Fort Worth will help usher in a new tradition as Harvey Fierstein replaces Topol in the company of the Award-winning musical Fiddler on the Roof, which comes to Bass Performance Hall March 9–14, 2010. Chaim Topol, regrettably, informed the show’s producers he would have to leave the production due to a shoulder injury requiring emergency long term treatment.
