Pier 1 has awarded a $1,000 grant to Theatre Arlington to support ACT UPS, the theater’s outreach program for at-risk fifth-graders in Arlington. This is the second year for Pier 1 to show their support for Theatre Arlington’s outreach efforts.

Playwright Wendy Wasserstein, who chronicled the feminist struggles and successes of the baby-boomer generation in such wryly observant works as “The Heidi Chronicles” and “The Sisters Rosensweig,” has died of lymphoma at the age of 55.
