Pier 1 has awarded a $1,000 grant to Theatre Arlington to support ACT UPS, the theater’s outreach program for at-risk fifth-graders in Arlington. This is the second year for Pier 1 to show their support for Theatre Arlington’s outreach efforts.

Amon Carter Museum hosts sculptor and printmaker Melvin Edwards for a special lecture entitled Inside the Blackburn Studio with Artist Melvin Edwards on Thursday, February 9, at 6 p.m.

The Board of Trustees of the Amon Carter Museum announced that it has appointed Dr. Tyler, currently a professor of history at the University of Texas at Austin, as director of the museum.

Playwright Wendy Wasserstein, who chronicled the feminist struggles and successes of the baby-boomer generation in such wryly observant works as “The Heidi Chronicles” and “The Sisters Rosensweig,” has died of lymphoma at the age of 55.

The third annual event is being held on March 31, 2006, and will raise funds to retire old debt before Hip Pocket Theatre’s 30th anniversary summer season presenting new works and adaptations under the stars.

The Arlington Museum of Art proudly presents SHINE 2006, the museum’s annual exhibition, auction and gala. This year’s theme is Fire and Ice, (think elemental contrasts, pleasing extremes) with art works donated by more than 120 Texas artists, some created specifically for the exhibition.

Proceeds from the lively six-hour event will benefit Contemporary Dance Fort Worth’s school, scholarship program, and “Dance Delivered” outreach programs.

The first-class “cowgirl camp” will offer acclaimed cowgirls and luxury retreats as participants “Kindle the Cowgirl Spirit” May 18-21, 2006.
