Jubilee Theatre has announced the resignation of their award winning Artistic Director, Ed Smith. Mr. Smith’s resignation will be effective August 31, 2010, at the end of the 2009–2010 Season. The organization’s Board of Trustees will embark on a national search in May for a new Artistic Director.

Yep, it’s true! Ever’body who lives in the Greater Tuna metro area is camping out (and camping it up!) at the Granbury Opera House through April 10. Vera Carp is there along with Aunt Pearl and the Buemiller clan, and things aren’t lookin’ so good for Uncle Henry’s bird dog. Visiting hours are Fridays and Saturdays at 2:30 and 7:30 … y’all come say hello to these hilarious folks from the third smallest town in Texas!

Texas Dance Theatre has announced that it will be holding auditions for its 2010-2011 season on Saturday, March 27 at the Scott Theatre / Garber Hall Studio in the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. There is a registration fee of $15.00 – click here to register. The group will hold their season finale featuring guest choreographer Mark Panzarino on April 30.

The budding flowers and warmer weather are nice, indeed, but one of the surest signs of Spring is when Hip Pocket Theatre comes out of hibernation and springs to vibrant life. That day has finally arrived with the annoucement that the Pocket will be holding auditions for the 2010 season on the weekend of March 27 and 28, 2010.

Runway Theatre will hold auditions for their upcoming production of the romantic comedy Getting Sara Married on March 21 and 22, with callbacks (if necessary) scheduled for March 23. The group is seeking non-Equity actors – 3 women and 2 men – to play a wide range of roles.

Writer Harper Lee captured a Pulitzer Prize for her 1960 novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, which has long been celebrated as a classic of modern American literature. Lee’s semi-autobiographical book, about racial tensions in a small Alabama town during the Depression, was adapted successfully for both the screen and the stage. The City of Fort Worth’s Parks and Community Services Department (PACS) is partnering with the Van Cliburn Foundation to bring extraordinary music to city neighborhoods. Di Wu, a finalist in the 30th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, held in 2009, returns to Fort Worth to perform one-hour concerts in several Fort Worth community centers. These events, sponsored by the Van Cliburn Foundation, are free and open to the public.
