The Kimbell Art Museum will show the first segment of its summer film series held in conjunction with the special exhibition Palace and Mosque: Islamic Art from the Victoria and Albert Museum on Sunday, July 17, at 2 p.m. The free presentation of “Islam, Empire of Faith: The Messenger” (1999, 60 min.) will take place in the Museum auditorium. The series will explore the birth and historic development of the Islamic faith and culture, with emphasis on contributions Muslims have made in art, architecture, education, science, medicine, and philosophy.

The Sid Richardson Collection of Western Art, which boasts more than 60 paintings by premier Western artists, Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell, will close its museum temporarily June 19, 2005, to make way for renovation and expansion of its home in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square.

Amon Carter Museum presents Rockwell Kent in two parts beginning Thursday, June 23 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. The second part will air Thursday, June 30 at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

Created as discussion tools for the Museum’s permanent collection and architecture, these thought-provoking guides invite children and adults to investigate the Museum’s building and the artworks inside it together.

Gather with friends or meet other art lovers at The Kimbell Art Museum’s Summer Mixer Series, which kicks off on Thursday, July 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. The series, featuring light jazz, guided tours of the Museum, and a cash bar, will continue on the evenings of Thursday, August 11, and Thursday, September 8, also from 6 to 8 p.m.
