Veterans Memorial Air Park at Meacham Airport Plans Grand Opening Sunday, Sept. 12

Fort Worth’s museum of warplanes – the Veterans Memorial Air Park – will hold its grand opening at 11:30 AM on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010. The Air Park is the home of the B-36 Peacemaker Museum, the Forward Air Controller’s Museum and the OV-10 Bronco Association. In addition, 17 aircraft are on display. Opening day admission will be free.

David Chambless Worters Named Incoming President and CEO of the Van Cliburn Foundation

Alann Bedford Sampson, chairman of the Van Cliburn Foundation Board of Directors, has announced that David Chambless Worters has been chosen to serve as the president and chief executive officer of the Foundation, effective December 1, 2010. Mr. Worters is currently serving as president and chief executive officer of the North Carolina Symphony based in Raleigh.

8th Annual "Jazz by the Boulevard" Music and Arts Festival Coming September 10 & 11

Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth Receives Highest National Recognition

The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth has again achieved accreditation by the American Association of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition afforded the nation’s museums. Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public. All museums must undergo a re-accreditation review at least every 10 years to maintain accredited status.

Van Cliburn Documentary "A  Surprise in Texas" to Air on PBS Television September 1, 2010

The Van Cliburn International Piano Competition has been called “the musical Olympics of the western world” by the Milwaukee Journal. Now PBS will present A Surprise in Texas: The Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, featuring the finalists vying for the 2009 competition’s coveted gold medal. The documentary will be broadcast locally by KERA-TV, Channel 13, on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at 8:30 PM.
