Planned by the Junior League of Fort Worth and presented by Hip Pocket Theatre, Dream Carnival: A Benefit will raise funds for children’s outreach programming collaborations. Musical guests will include Little Jack Melody and His Young Turks, Darrin Kobetich, Melinda Allen, Daniel Katsuk, Mike Price, Mondo Drummers, and a live concert by Hip Pocket Theatre’s co-founder and Johnny Simons’s collaborator on over 50 plays, Douglas Balentine. Balentine will perform original music by Simons/Balentine from the past 30 years for over an hour and a half.

Additional entertainment will include over 10 children’s performances presented by Hip Pocket Theatre, Dream Up, Young Audiences of North Texas, and individual artists. Finally, children and families will enjoy Found Object Puppetry Workshops, Creative Expression Workshops, a chance to see the well-received Puppetry Pageant from August 2005, a children’s area provided by the Fort Worth Zoo, and more.

Dream Carnival benefits one of Fort Worth’s theatre arts outreach programs celebrating over 21 years of service. Hip Outreach Programming Experience (H.O.P.E.) works with other local non-profit organizations to present award winning programs in a diversity of settings. Hip Pocket Theatre partners with Cook Children’s Medical Center and John Peter Smith Hospital to present the only Theatre Arts in Healthcare program in the metroplex. In addition, H.O.P.E. collaborates with the North Texas Regional Library System, Boys and Girls Club of Fort Worth, Fort Worth ISD, Lake Worth ISD, Imagination Celebration, Latin Arts Association of Fort Worth, Samaritan House, The Kimbell Art Museum, and Bass Hall.
