Art lovers unite! The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth introduces the Modern Contemporaries, a unique opportunity for museum supporters in their 20s and 30s to learn about and experience modern art.
The Modern Contemporaries is a great way for art aficionados, between the ages of 21 and 39, to promote their passion for art among peers and throughout the community. Composed of young professionals, graduate students, artists, art lovers and everyone in between, the Modern Contemporaries enjoy exclusive social, cultural and educational events planned by the Modern and the group’s steering committee.
The Modern Contemporaries will enjoy exclusive events such a special exhibition tour and cocktail party, a casual outdoor event, happy hour, and an architecture tour. Activities require a small admission fee and include a cash bar. Guests are welcome to attend for a higher fee.
In addition to these exciting events, the Modern Contemporaries are responsible for organizing an annual fundraiser to support programs at the Modern.
The Modern Contemporaries Steering Committee members for 2005-2006 are
Co-chairs Kelly Andrews and Lauren Matthews, Benton Cantey, Veronica Dye, Victoria Estrada-Berg, Thomas Feulmer, Ratna Goenardi, Kathleen Hicks, Laurie McCoy, Nikki Reasor, Eric Salisbury, Stuart Schultz, Leigh Taylor, and Margaret Toppin.
Dues are $80 a year for an individual, $110 for couple; the price includes a basic Modern membership. Already a Modern member? Dues are an additional $30 per person.
The first event, “Light Up Your Night” will be held Thursday, June 2 in the Modern’s Sculpture Garden. The evening will feature a nighttime tour of the Dan Flavin exhibition and live music in the garden.
