The Texas Boys Choir celebrates its 9th annual Gala, Taste of Culture Goes Broadway, on May 21, 2005 at their new Mary D. and F. Howard Walsh Fine Arts Center, located in the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts at 3901 S Hulen. Wells Fargo Bank and Southwest Airlines support this year’s Gala. Participating area restaurants includes Blue Mesa, Cafe Chadra, Hedary’s, Hui Chuan’s Sushi, Sake, Tapas, Los Vaqueros, T&J’s Catering and the Texas Chef ’s Association, Fort Worth Chapter. The entertainment will showcase its Gold medal winning choir (Choir Olympics, Germany), the Texas Boys Choir and feature many of the 16 Betty Lynn Buckley Award nominees in performances from their nominated Best Musical, Singin’ in the Rain. The entertainment will also include performances from the Singing Girls of Texas, the Department of Dance and a special solo by Dr. Jerry Bierschenk, Artistic Director. Tom Hanley of Tranzon Hanley – A Real Estate Auction Firm who has donated their services for this event, will conduct a live auction. Proceeds benefit the Texas Boys Choir and their school, the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts. The Broadway themed Gala begins at 7:00 pm and tickets are available at 817.924.1482. About The School

Due to the demands of practicing and touring schedules, the board of directors of the Texas Boys Choir opened a public charter school, The Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts. The school, recently identified as “Recognized” by the Texas Education Agency, expanded to include talented boys and girls in grades three to twelve. Any student regardless of race, religion, disability or income, who wishes to study the fine arts along with a challenging academic curriculum, may attend. The school’s charter allows for 500 students. Students who attend live in north central Texas (Tarrant, Dallas, Parker, Johnson, and Ellis Counties). This school offers classes in music, visual arts, heater, dance and instrumental music. Rigorous daily rehearsals, community involvement, and academic achievement define these talented young people.
