A fully staged production of Something Intangible is scheduled to premiere in Philadelphia at the Arden Theatre in April, 2009. The play tells the touching and comedic story of two brothers who run a movie studio in Hollywood circa 1940. Tony is an extravagant visionary, and Dale is a plain-speaking numbers man. They are on the brink of a major movie innovation, but will they kill each other in the process?
“Bruce Graham is a leading American playwright who has developed a national reputation for his wit and rich, snappy dialogue,” said Rose Pearson, executive director and producer at Circle Theatre. “His work has become a favorite with our audiences, and we’re excited to provide this sneak peek at his latest play, which he is uniquely qualified to tell through his own experience writing for film and television.”
Bruce Graham will direct and read the play with other cast members from Dex & Julie Sittin’ in a Tree, which previews starting September 18 and opens September 20. Harry Parker, chair of Texas Christian University’s theatre department, will join Graham and the cast in this reading. Following the September 21 reading of Something Intangible, Mr. Graham will host a brief Q&A session with audience members.
Seating is first come, first served, and a $10 donation is suggested.
