Hip Pocket Theatre invites you to experience the world premiere of The Island of Dr. Moreau by H. G. Wells, newly adapted for the stage by HTP founder Johnny Simons.

This eerie and thought-provoking play was inspired by the classic 1896 science fiction novel about an obsessed scientist and his unconventional experiments in evolution. On a remote tropical island, Dr. Moreau has appointed himself ruler over a menagerie of genetic mutants. The products of his misguided attempt to create a more “pure” human species worship Moreau as their god and “father” and live by his code of law. Then one day an unexpected visitor is shipwrecked onto the island and discovers the laboratory and challenges Moreau’s twisted view of playing God.

Due to its subject matter, this play is rated a strong PG-13.
