The program runs 45 minutes and covers all required learning for American history involving slavery. In addition, the program introduces students to traditional theatre techniques, songs of the period, puppetry, film theatre fusion design, and stilt-walking. The program speaks to children utilizing new mediums such as hip-hop, film, and spoken word. Underground Railroad: A Journey to Freedom is a lesson in history, humanity, and fun loaded with audience participation
and interactive components.

Sheran Keyton Goodspeed has been seen all across DFW, but is most recognizable as the enormously talented star of countless Jubilee Theatre productions.
Elliott Gilbert II has worked with Jubilee Theatre, Artes de la Rosa,, Hip Pocket Theatre, Texas Radio Theatre Company, and many other distinguished groups. He is an actor, published poet, songwriter, and playwright.
Adam Justin Dietrich is the co-founder and Artistic Director of The Butterfly Connection. Adam studied with Johnny and Diane Simons for six years through the Texas Commission on the Arts Apprenticeship Program. He has worked with Dallas Theater Center, Dallas Children’s Theater, Stage West, Teatro de la Rosa, Jubilee Theatre, Big Nazo, and more. He has developed three works for children, prior to Underground railroad, and all have been on the touring rosters of Young Audiences of Dallas.
