Greater Cleburne Carnegie Players will open its 2008–2009 season with a big scale production of Oliver!, an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel Oliver Twist, featuring music and lyrics by Lionel Bart.

This classic tale tells the adventures of a poor, hungry orphan who runs away from the workhouse, only to fall in with a gang of boy pickpockets run by a cunning criminal. The score features such classic songs as “Food, Glorious Food”, “Where is Love?”, “I’d Do Anything”, and “Consider Yourself”. The film version of this exhuberent musical won the Academy Award for Best Picture of 1968. Here’s a perfect summer treat suitable for the entire family … don’t miss it!
