Circle Theatre is pleased to announce that that it will hold auditions for three female roles in its upcoming 2007 season opener, From Door to Door, written by James Sherman and to be directed by Connie de Veer. Auditions will be held on December 4 and December 5, and will be scheduled by appointment only.

Spanning over sixty years of family history in Chicago, From Door to Door is a funny, touching tribute to three generations of Jewish women in America. Shifting back and forth in time from 1936 to the present, the play’s title is a reference to a phrase in the Hebrew prayer book, “l’dor v’dor,” which means “from generation to generation.”

To be cast are three women in their late twenties to sixties:

Mary (Age 12 – 76)
Bessie (Age 35 – 94) – Mary’s mother
Deborah (Age 13 – 49) – Mary’s daughter

Rehearsals for From Door to Door will begin December 27, 2006. Performances will be held Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, January 18 through February 17, 2007.

Then on December 18 and December 19, Circle Theatre will audition actors for four roles in Lincolnesque, a play by John Strand which will be directed by Jaime Castañeda.

Lincolnesque dives into the intriguing world of Washington election campaigns through the eyes of two brothers: Leo, a speechwriter for a struggling congressional candidate; and Francis, an intelligent and passionate individual, who just happens to believe he’s Abraham Lincoln. When Leo begins to use some of Francis’ historical words for inspiration, the level of politics is raised to new heights, but the truth behind Francis’ famous alter ego could be exposed in this touching and funny new play about brotherhood, loyalty, and the corruption of politics in America.

The roles to be cast in Lincolnesque are:

Francis (male, 30’s)
Leo (male, late 20’s – early 30’s)
Carla (female, late 20’s – early 30’s) – The actor playing Carla doubles as the Doctor.
Daly (male, 40’s – 60’s) – The actor playing Daly doubles as the Secretary of War.

Rehearsals for Lincolnesque will begin February 19, 2007. Performances will be held Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, March 15 through April 14, 2007.
