Arlington Museum of Art is pleased to announce its second annual afternoon of free art activities for families, sponsored this year by Target. Target Fall Family Day at the AMA will be held Saturday, September 30 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

A hit last September, Fall Family Day again presents a variety of activities for kids and families, including hands-on theater, dance and art-making sessions led by area artists, exhibition tours and arty door prizes. Admission is free and no advance registration is required.

Back this year by popular demand are the Texas Radio Theater troupe with hands-on sound effects demonstrations. Main Street Arts Xchange (MSAX) partner Miss Persis Dance Studio returns with dance performances, and local artists will once again provide face-painting and lead children in hands-on art activities throughout the afternoon. New this year will be a performance by another MSAX partner, guitarist Bobby Robertson of Plasterini Guitars from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Don’t miss the special “No Tears Tour” of the museum’s famous Dungeon of Doom haunted house for the younger set at 4pm. (There is a small fee for the “No Tears Tour”). There will also be kid-friendly tours of the museum’s two fall exhibitions Texas Paint, Part II: Out of Abstraction and Arlington Collects: The Pokrifcsaks throughout the afternoon.

When planning your visit to Target Fall Family Day at the AMA be sure to allow time to drop by the Arlington Historical Society’s Front Street Festival, taking place in Knapp Heritage Park at 201 North Front Street, just behind the museum. The Front Street Festival will take place from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 30. Admission is $2.00 per person or $5.00 for a family of four.
