This event begins with cocktails at 6:00 p.m., followed at 7:00p.m. with dinner and the annual Tony Awards Ceremony. Arts philanthropist and one of Circle Theatre’s founding board members, Ann L. Rhodes, is the guest of honor.
The Tony Awards broadcast on big screens throughout the evening will create a feeling of actually attending the ceremony in person. Circle’s cast for its current production of Side by Side by Sondheim (playing June 1 – July 8) will highlight the evening with music and songs. The event will also feature a viewing of The Show Goes On, a painting by Tony Saladino, commissioned in honor of Circle Theatre’s anniversary. The artist will be on hand to sign numbered lithographs of the painting, purchased at the party. As another “party perk” and in keeping with the theme of the event, Circle volunteers will sell raffle tickets for a trip to Broadway.
Proceeds from Side by Side with the Tonys benefit Circle Theatre’s mission to present contemporary theatre in an intimate setting. Circle Theatre is a 501© 3 non-profit arts organization founded in June 1981. One of only three Equity theatres in Fort Worth, this professional regional theatre presents a year-round season of comedies, musicals and dramas.
Theatre patrons enjoy Circle’s comfortably intimate atmosphere and often comment on the bonus of being close to the action on stage. The auditorium seats 125 audience members on three sides around an open thrust stage. Work by visual artists, on display in the lobby gallery, perfectly complement the experience of attending each live theatre production at Circle.
Circle Theatre derives its name from its original location on Bluebonnet Circle, near Texas Christian University, in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1994 the Theatre moved to its current location in the historic Sanger Building at 230 West Fourth Street in Sundance Square.
