In conjunction with the Chuck Close Prints: Process and Collaboration and works in The Modern Art Museum’s Permanent Collection, students spend time looking at prints and discussing the various printmaking techniques and their impact on art making.

Workshop Ages 13-15
Dallas artist Thomas Feulmer leads students through the concepts of water based screen printing and the practice of appropriating imagery. After discussing various works in the galleries students create their own screen prints in the museum studio. All materials are provided by the Museum. Class size is limited to 10. Lunchtime drinks are provided but students should bring a sack lunch.

Workshop Ages 16-18
The portrait and the print are the focus of Dallas artist Noah Simblist’s workshop for young adults. Participants brainstorm and draw in the galleries, discussing the primary print processes and the power of the portrait from the Chuck Close Prints exhibition. The workshop continues in the studio experimenting with photography and drawing media to create personal portraits. All materials are provided by the Museum. Class size is limited to 10. Lunchtime drinks are provided, students should bring a sack lunch.

A limited number of scholarships for students are available with teacher recommendation. Teachers interested in submitting a recommendation should contact the education department.
