The SHINE 2006: FIRE AND ICE exhibition opened to the public on Saturday, January 14 and continues through 5 pm on Saturday, February 4 at the Arlington Museum of Art. Bidding on art works in the silent auction is currently underway, and continues through the evening of the auction and gala on Saturday, February 4, when all of the works in the exhibition are sold. Bidders do not have to be present at auction to secure the winning bid on an item (but it helps).
This annual exhibition showcases a broad range of talented contemporary Texas artists, who have generously donated their work to support the museum. Works span all media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, glass, ceramics, photography, metals and printmaking. The auction and gala draw more than 350 arts supporters from across the Metroplex, and there is sure to be an item that appeals to every bidder.
A highlight of the gala evening is the live auction, which will feature outstanding art by 17 exceptional Texas artists, as well as two very special luxury items. The live auction will be conducted by Bernice Washington, of Washington Enterprises.
In addition to being one of the very best parties in Arlington, this event is one of the museum’s most important fund raisers, historically responsible for raising 25% of the museum’s annual operating dollars. All proceeds benefit 2006 museum education programs and exhibitions. The museum has a goal of raising $100,000 with this year’s event.
The AMA would like to thank the artists who have so generously donated their art to the museum’s annual art auction over the years. Participating 2006 Artists are:

Italian Bistro, custom fire and ice dessert by Ginger Marie and Company, dancing to the sounds of a custom DJ mix, special fiery and icy effects produced by Richard McClure and A Very Special Day, and of course “competitive shopping” for art and luxury goods in live and silent auctions.
