Texas Dance Theatre has announced that it will be holding auditions for its 2010-2011 season on Saturday, March 27 at the Scott Theatre / Garber Hall Studio in the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. The budding flowers and warmer weather are nice, indeed, but one of the surest signs of Spring is when Hip Pocket Theatre comes out of hibernation and springs to vibrant life. That day has finally arrived with the annoucement that the Pocket will be holding auditions for the 2010 season on the weekend of March 27 and 28, 2010.

Runway Theatre will hold auditions for their upcoming production of the romantic comedy Getting Sara Married on March 21 and 22, with callbacks (if necessary) scheduled for March 23. The group is seeking non-Equity actors – 3 women and 2 men – to play a wide range of roles.

The City of Fort Worth’s Parks and Community Services Department (PACS) is partnering with the Van Cliburn Foundation to bring extraordinary music to city neighborhoods. Di Wu, a finalist in the 30th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, held in 2009, returns to Fort Worth to perform one-hour concerts in several Fort Worth community centers. These events, sponsored by the Van Cliburn Foundation, are free and open to the public.

Texas Ballet Theater is proud to announce it is relocating its rehearsal studios, administrative offices and Fort Worth Academy to a new location in Fort Worth. Texas Ballet Theater is currently located at 6845 Green Oaks Road where it has been since 1985. The new facility is located at 1600 Green Oaks Road and should be ready for occupancy in about four months.

Votum Dance Company will be holding a Master Modern Dance Class with Randall Flinn from 3:00 to 4:30 PM on Saturday, February 27 at 619 Productions in Fort Worth. Guide To The City has just learned of the tragic death of Mr. Larry Thompson, the executive director of the Northwest Tarrant Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Popcorn Players of Azle. In what has been ruled a homicide, Mr. Thompson was killed on Saturday night, February 6, 2010, in the 7100 block of Robertson Road in Fort Worth when his car was hit head on by a man suspected of driving while intoxicated. Mr. Thompson had just played the role of Rev. Duncan Wooley in a performance of Azle Arts’ Leading Ladies earlier that same evening.
