Contemporary Dance Fort Worth presents The Butterfly Effect and Other Beautiful Catastrophes, a special dance and music performance, as part of its 6th Annual Modern Dance Festival.
This innovative collaboration unites Austin composer William H. Meadows and choreographer Kerry Kreiman with members of the CD/FW company. Interactive technology will transform dancers’ movements and gestures into sound using Nintendo WiiMotes and wireless microphones and transmitters. Meadows will use a variety of programs he has constructed using Kyma DSP software to exploit the buttons and accelerometers on the WiiMotes, which have been configured for real time control of LIVE software. Utilizing ideas from chaos and catastrophe theory as part of a chance structure, each performance will be a unique event.
