Named Best Roots Rock Band at the 2006-2007 Austin Music Awards, Austin newcomers The Mother Truckers are the talk of the town, and not just for their humorous name. The group’s rollicking debut CD, Broke Not Broken, sounds like it’s been dipped in both sawdust and grease: it’s twangy yet revved-up – Hee Haw meets Hell’s Angels. “Their styles mix Blue Ridge reverence with Wild West rebellion with a strong dose of Texas tenacity,” Thrasher magazine recently proclaimed.
