Van Cliburn Foundation concludes its 2007-2008 concert series, “Cliburn at the Modern”, with an evening featuring Adam Guettel.
Following in the tradition of his grandfather Richard Rodgers and mother Mary Rodgers, American composer and lyricist Adam Guettel is one of today’s most creative new voices on Broadway. His groundbreaking 1996 musical Floyd Collins received an Obie award and his 2005 musical The Light in the Piazza took home six Tony Awards, including Best Original Score and Best Orchestration. Also an accomplished singer, Guettel counts pop music, classical, and Stephen Sondheim among his early influences.
