Fort Worth Opera proudly presents Georges Bizet’s beloved classic, Carmen.

Carmen is a sensual woman whose hobby is collecting the hearts of men. She turns her charms on an upstanding soldier, Don José, who gives up his family, career and reputation for Carmen’s amorous charms. When Carmen becomes bored with Don José’s affections, his obsession shows its flip-side – jealousy – to tragic consequences.

Bizet’s Carmen was first performed in Paris in 1975. At the time, it was denounced by critics as “immoral” due to its dark storyline and the ammoral nature of its principal character. Today, perhaps for those same reasons, it has become one of the world’s most popular operas.

Performed in French with projected English translations.

Location: Bass Hall

Admission: $ 19.00 – $159.00
