Q Cinema continues its 10th Annual Film Festival with the documentary Wrestling with Angels.
This feature film about Pulitzer- and Tony Award-winning playwright Tony Kushner (“Angels in America”) describes the evolution of an artist and shows how Kushner, raised in the Deep South in Lake Charles, Louisiana, become an outspoken activist, a compassionate spokesperson for outsiders, and one of today’s most entertaining and important playwrights. At its core, the film explores the mystery of creativity and its source, through an examination of Kushner’s compelling plays which are set against the moral and political concerns of our times.
Directed by Freida Lee Mock, who also wrote and directed the Academy Award-winning Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision, and featuring interviews with Marcia Gay Harden, Justin Kirk, Mike Nichols, Meryl Streep, Jeffrey Wright, and others.
