Jubilee Theatre proudly presents Cookin’ at the Cookery, written by Marion J. Caffey and directed by Ed Smith.
Step inside a night club in Greenwich Village. A jazz trio is playing mellifluously and then, the lights dim. Now a small, elegant woman glides to the microphone. Welcome to the Cookery, and welcome to Alberta Hunter. From the 1920’s throughout her career, which spanned well into her 80’s, Alberta Hunter helped to define jazz. Cookin’ at the Cookery is a showcase for her stories and songs, all wrapped into one unforgettable evening.
Talkbacks with the artists are scheduled after the March 25 and April 5 performances.
