Lonnie Weeks, age 18, has won the Silver Medal in the Junior Division for his performances at the prestigious International Ballet Competition which was held in Helsinki, Finland. Mr. Weeks is a member of the Texas Ballet Theater’s permanent company.

Theatre Arlington has announced that it recently received a $5,000 grant from Union Pacific Railroad. The funds are to be used to support the theatre’s ACT UPS (Applied Creative Thinking Using Performance Skills) program, which combines theatre games and acting exercises to help improve the self-esteem, confidence, problem-solving and life skills of inner city at-risk adolescents.

Colored lights will illuminate the night sky during a festive block party on June 25 at 8:30 PM when the Avenue of Light on Lancaster Avenue is turned on for the first time. This public art project by Cliff Garten Studio consists of six stainless steel sculptures that incorporate energy efficient LED lights. Towering 36 feet high, these amazing works been installed along the median from Lamar Street to Main/Commerce Street.
