The Women's Chorus of Dallas (TWCD) promotes the strength, diversity and joy of women by performing high quality music to entertain, inspire, and serve the community. Founded in 1989 with 32 members, TWCD has had 6 part-time Artistic Directors, 3 accompanists and over 300 women singing. The Chorus has served the community by singing for numerous benefits, including Hope's Door and Youth First Texas, and also raising over $50,000 for organizations like the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, many AIDS-related services, Our Friends' Place, and other non-profit organizations. TWCD also sings for church services, private engagements, and concerts in other cities across the country.
The Chorus has released 9 solo recordings and 7 collaborative recordings with the Turtle Creek Chorale. The Women's Chorus of Dallas has participated in several international choral festivals in San Jose, Denver, Tampa, and Montreal and has sung in New York's Carnegie Hall twice, returning again in February, 2006. TWCD has been a member of GALA Choruses since 1989. The Chorus has also been a member of Chorus America and the American Choral Directors Association.
