The Dallas Chamber Music Society, Inc. aims to develop and sustain a love for great classical chamber music as interpreted by today's most accomplished performers. It serves residents in the greater Dallas area, by sponsoring and managing concerts of the best touring music groups from all over the world, performing great music from the classical era to the contemporary.
The Dallas Chamber Music Society is the second oldest civic music organization in Dallas. Over six decades, it has gained the admiration of the Metroplex for the high quality of its presentations. It is distinguished not only for the quality of the programs it presents, but also for supporting the composition of original works. In collaboration with the Friends of the Dallas Public Library, the Dallas Chamber Music Society commissioned the Third Quartet (plus voice) of Alberto Ginastera. The work was premiered by the Juilliard Quartet and Benita Valenti in 1974 to an overflow audience and national reviews.
The Dallas Chamber Music Society holds its concerts at Caruth Auditorium, an acoustical chamber designed especially for music, on the SMU campus. It is proud to be one of the enduring cultural assets of the Metroplex.
