Constantina Tsolainou, Conductor

Arts District Chorale continues its 2008–2009 Season of Transformation with Transformed by Time and Space, featuring excerpts from Rachmaninoff’s Vespers, plus works by Tchaikovsky, Gretchaninoff, Chesnokov and others.

The Rachmaninoff Vespers stands at the pinnacle of a Russian choral renaissance launched by composers of the 1880’s New Russian School seeking to create a uniquely Russian sound.

Voices ranging from unison to twelve parts reshape ancient unison chants into a unique and richly orchestrated choral tapestry. Presented in the acoustically vibrant, cathedral-like Grand Lobby of the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, this unusual and uplifting musical event is sure to reverberate in your memory for a long time to come.
