The Fig Theatre Company proudly presents Godspell, the inspirational musical by Stephen Schwartz based on the Gospel of St. Matthew. This production features a powerful cast of talented actors and singers who have been seen at area theatres such as Theatre Three, Dallas Theater Center, Casa Mañana, Uptown Players, and even off-Broadway!
Godspell opened off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre, New York, in 1971 and immediately captivated audiences with its beautiful music and energetic choreography. Songs in the show include “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord”, “Light of the World”, “On the Willows”, and the break-out hit “Day by Day”, which reached #13 on the Billboard pop singles chart in the summer of 1972. The show eventually moved to Broadway, where it played until the Fall of 1977.
