Arts Fifth Avenue is proud to present The James Hinkle Band and KM Williams & Washboard Jackson.
These two bands are representing the North Texas Blues Society at the 24th International Blues Challenge (IBC) which will be held in Memphis, Tennessee in late January and early February 2008. This spectacular evening of musical entertainment is a “Road to the IBC Event” – all proceeds will be used to help finance the bands’ trip to Memphis to play at this prestigious professional competition.
The 24th IBC will have the distinction of being the world’s largest gathering of Blues acts. Sometimes referred to as a “Battle of the Bands”, the IBC represents an international search by The Blues Foundation and its affiliated organizations to identify the Blues Band and the Solo/Duo Blues Act ready to take their places on the international stage. In 2007, over 90 bands and 60 solo/duo acts entered the 23rd IBC, and even greater participation is expected in 2008, filling the clubs up and down Memphis’ Beale Street for the semi-finals on Thursday and Friday and the finals at the historic Orpheum Theater on Saturday.
The list of distinguished blues artists whose careers included the International Blues Challenge over the years includes: Susan Tedeschi, Michelle Wilson, Michael Burks, Tommy Castro, Albert Cummings, Larry Garner, Richard Johnston, Fiona Boyes, Slick Ballinger, Diunna Greenleaf and Matthew Skoller.
“Winning the International Blues Challenge is better than having a $100,000 publicity budget!” –2004 IBC winner and 2006 Blues Music Award Best New Artist Zac Harmon.
Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to experience the phenomenal sounds of The James Hinkle Band and KM Williams & Washboard Jackson as they prepare to travel to Memphis and demonstrate for the judges and the public what the best of the Blues is all about!
