Writes Richard Simpson, the President of Frisco Community Theatre, “As many of our regular patrons are aware, the facility we perform in is quite old. A significant portion of our yearly operational budget goes toward the maintenance of this facility. During the performance of some routine maintenance, several conditions came to our attention that we felt warranted the need for the City of Frisco to become involved. After meeting with City representatives, we all agreed to err on the side of caution and postpone FCT’s season until a comprehensive building and structural inspection could be done. We unanimously agreed that the safety of the public comes first.

“The City of Frisco has been amazing in their response. They have made resources available to us, and have helped to prioritize the inspection of the facility. Currently, the results of the inspection are under review. Although many people from the City of Frisco, too numerous to mention, have been involved in assisting us, I would like to personally thank Mayor Mike Simpson, Assistant City Manager Henry Hill, City Councilman Dr. Jim Joyner, and Director of Parks and Recreation Rick Wieland and his staff. I would also like to thank Mayor Pro Tem & President of Frisco Association of the Arts Maher Masso for his assistance and support.

“Even with the quick response from the City of Frisco, the possibility of having a full season has past. We will announce soon our plans for a series of fundraisers that we are calling Season in Exile. These fundraisers will be performed in cities around the metroplex that have offered their support to our organization. These performances will either help offset the costs of repairing the current facility, or help locate a new facility somewhere in Denton County. In the interim, those wishing to donate either professional resources (plumbing, electrical construction) or financial resources are encouraged to visit the FTC website. You may also contact our box office at 972.377.3868 and leave a message. I will personally follow-up with all offers of assistance.”
