Dallas Theater Center Managing Director Mark Hadley has announced the 2007-2008 season, a diverse lineup of beloved classical favorites, notable musical plays, and striking contemporary fare. The new season will feature two exciting premieres — the world premiere of the Salzburg Marionette Theatre’s The Sound of Music, and the U.S. premiere co-production of The Blonde, the Brunette and the Vengeful Redhead.
“As Dallas Theater Center prepares for its 2009 move into the new Wyly theater during DTC’s fiftieth anniversary season, we are committed to programming plays that reflect and connect with this community,” Hadley said. “With classic texts such as Pride and Prejudice and The Misanthrope; musicals like The Sound of Music, Ella, and A Christmas Carol; and contemporary plays such as Glengarry Glen Ross and The Blonde, the Brunette and the Vengeful Redhead, DTC will offer an array of entertaining productions that will engage a wide audience.”
Dallas Theater Center also renews its ongoing commitment to new plays with its participation in Suzan-Lori Park’s 365 Plays / 365 Days National Festival from October 15 through 21 as part of the FRESH INK / Forward Motion series.
“The mission of FRESH INK / Forward Motion dovetails so beautifully with the spirit behind Parks’ quixotic endeavor to write a play a day for a year, that we jumped at the opportunity to be involved,” said DTC Associate Director David Kennedy. “Parks’ project plays with both form and content, challenging the very limits of what the theater can do in a way that is vital, contemporary, and a good deal of fun.”
The season lineup is as follows:
- Pride and Prejudice: August 29 – September 23, 2007
- Glengarry Glen Ross: October 3 – 28, 2007
- The Sound of Music: November 2 – 4, 2007
