Winter SoltiCelebration – Finding Our Voice

Friday December 21, 2007
Rated: G

Women’s Chorus of Dallas will be the special guest performer at the 15th annual Winter SoltiCelebration – Finding Our Voice, to be presented by Earth Rhythms at Dallas’ Cathedral of Hope.

Winter SolstiCelebration is Dallas’ largest and longest running seasonal tradition. With a typical attendance of over 750 people, the event is the next largest Winter Solstice observation in the nation, second only to Paul Winter’s winter solstice celebrations held in New York City. The event celebrates the interfaith community, emphasizing the qualities and concerns we share as humans.

Winter SolstiCelebration is held each December, as close to the shortest day of the year as possible, and features a diverse cast of professional musicians, dancers, singers and poets. The participatory and interactive service integrates ritual, ceremony, concert and performance, and the Yule Fest features food, music, shopping and roving characters.

Each year hundreds of pounds of pantry items are collected for the church’s food drive and winter wear for their coat drive. The event also raises funds for the Cathedral of Hope’s Interfaith Peace Chapel project.

Program:

  • 6:30 PM: Doors open
  • 7:00 – 9:00 PM: SolstiCelebration Service
  • 9:00 – 10:00 PM: Yulefest Social Hour

Location: Cathedral of Hope
5910 Cedar Springs at Inwood, Dallas, TX 75235

Admission: A $5.00 donation ($3.00 for students and seniors) is requested, along with canned foods and winter clothing for charity collection.

Special Notes: The service will be signed for the hearing impaired. Childcare service available. Please bring a flashlight to participate in the light service!
