Audacity Theatre Lab is proud to present playwright Clay McLeod Chapman’s Volume of Fire, the story of a deadly fire that consumed the Richmond Theatre in 1811. The body count included Virginia’s newly elected governor, George W. Smith. Based on unpublished interviews with actual survivors, this moving, provocative play runs March 11 to 27 at the Bath House Cultural Center.

Writer Harper Lee captured a Pulitzer Prize for her 1960 novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, which has long been recognized as a classic of modern American literature. Lee’s semi-autobiographical book, about racial tensions in a small Alabama town during the Depression, was adapted successfully for both the screen and the stage.
